Advertising policy: Commercial advertising may appear. Political advertising may not.
Google AdSense may fund the site through limited manual placements under the labelling, privacy, independence and election-period rules below.
PartyMap does not accept political advertising
Political parties, candidates, third-party campaigners and political advocacy groups cannot buy advertising, sponsor party pages or pay to promote content.
Network and privacy settings
- Google AdSense is PartyMap's only planned programmatic advertising network.
- Every ad request is marked non-personalized. PartyMap does not enable interest-based targeting from a visitor's past browsing.
- Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland receive Google's certified three-choice consent message: consent, do not consent, or manage options.
Advertising that may be accepted
- Non-political advertising from local businesses.
- Ordinary commercial advertising related to settlement, education, employment and community services.
- Programmatic advertising that complies with New Zealand advertising, consumer protection and privacy requirements.
Editorial independence
- Advertising revenue never changes which parties appear, how policies are summarised, which sources are cited or the order of any list.
- There is no paid ranking, sponsored policy placement, paid party page, comparison row or electorate page.
- Advertisers, sponsors and agencies receive no preview, approval or advance-notice rights over editorial content.
- Methodology, ranking and ordering rules remain public and are not changed by commercial arrangements.
Required separation from editorial content
- Advertising is clearly labelled as advertising or sponsored content.
- Advertising cannot imitate a policy claim, source link or editorial content.
- Standard ad sizes reserve space so advertising does not disrupt page stability or reading order.
- Advertiser categories and material funding sources are disclosed when advertising begins.
- Party browsing is never used to build a political preference profile.
Placement and density limits
- PartyMap launches with no more than one manually placed responsive unit per eligible page. The permanent maximum is two units, only on pages longer than three screens.
- Ads may appear only after the main content on the home page, party and electorate directories, party and electorate details, comparison pages and the government guide.
- The voting guide, source index, methodology, corrections, privacy and advertising pages are permanently ad-free.
- No ad may appear inside voting instructions, party or policy content, comparison tables, evidence links, source lists or enrolment and voting calls to action.
Blocking and review controls
- PartyMap blocks Google's Politics sensitive category, gambling categories and known political advertiser URLs, and reviews served creatives in the Ad review center.
- These controls are best-effort and do not guarantee that every political or misleading creative will be identified across every language.
- Any political, gambling or misleading creative that appears is blocked, reported to Google and recorded in PartyMap's advertising complaint log.
Advertising complaints
Report the page, language, advertiser URL and a screenshot through the corrections process. PartyMap aims to acknowledge advertising complaints within five working days and records the action taken.
Report an advertising problemElection-period ads-off rule
If programmatic advertising is active before the election, PartyMap will disable the advertising loader and all visible units for election day on 7 November 2026. The lowest-risk option remains enabling advertising only after the official result on 27 November 2026.
Review before advertising is enabled
Before commercial operation, PartyMap will seek case-specific guidance from the Electoral Commission on the site, promotion plan and advertising model. Promotion during regulated election periods will follow the latest official rules.
