Privacy: Collect less, especially about political preference

PartyMap has no user accounts, comments, questionnaires or analytics tracking. Advertising is designed to avoid turning political browsing into a profile.

Political preference is not an advertising profile

Viewing a party, searching a policy or using a filter should not become political opinion data for sale or targeting.

Data handled by the current site

  • Theme preference is stored only in your browser.
  • Search and filtering run in the browser and are not sent to a PartyMap server.
  • Saved topic interests are stored only in your browser and are not sent to PartyMap.
  • Correction emails are forwarded through Cloudflare Email Routing to a private mailbox. The sender address, message and attachments are used only to investigate and respond, and are not published without permission.
  • External source links open third-party sites that apply their own privacy policies.

Google AdSense and non-personalized advertising

When advertising is enabled, PartyMap uses Google AdSense only in the commercial placements described in the advertising policy. Google may process the page URL, IP address, browser and device information, cookies or local-storage identifiers to deliver, secure, frequency-cap and measure ads.

PartyMap requests non-personalized ads for every visitor. These ads use the current page context and coarse location rather than past browsing, but may still use cookies or local storage for frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting.

PartyMap does not send user accounts, questionnaires or saved topic interests to Google, and does not use visits to party, policy or electorate pages to create or sell a political-preference profile.

Consent, overseas processing and your choices

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's certified consent management platform presents three choices: consent, do not consent, or manage options. Google records the resulting consent signal for ad serving.

When the European regulations message and AdSense code are active, Google adds a privacy and cookie settings link at the bottom of pages that load the message so consent can be changed or withdrawn.

Google may process advertising data outside New Zealand. PartyMap reviews these disclosures against New Zealand Privacy Principles 3A and 12 and does not treat Google's CMP certification as a guarantee of legal compliance.

Analytics and future services

This policy will be updated before Cloudflare Web Analytics, email subscriptions or any additional data service is enabled. The update will identify the service, cookies, retention period, legal basis and opt-out method.

PartyMap will prefer analytics that do not create cross-site profiles. Any future party-matching tool should calculate locally where possible and avoid storing questionnaire answers.
